UMNH Summer Camps for Fourth and Fifth Graders
Summer Camps for 4th-5th graders are offered in both half-day and full-day formats. Check listings for times. Parents can enroll their child in two half-day camps, making it a full day experience. If in camp for a full day,
UMNH will provide a supervised place for campers to eat a sack lunch brought from home during the lunch hour from Noon-1pm.
Camps for these ages go on field trips both on and off campus. Partner camps for this age begin at UMNH and end at our partner locations.Transportation between sites is provided.

Because we accept registration for our programs through the mail and in person, as well as online, in rare cases we may inadvertently oversell a program. Registrations are processed on a first come, first served basis,
and we close registration for a program as soon as we are aware that it is full. If you attempt to register for a program that is oversold, your credit card will not be charged and we will contact you as soon as possible to inform you.
You will be offered the option of being placed on a waiting list, selecting another program or having your purchase cancelled.

If you need to continue to shop, click the link again on the left navigation bar and repeat the step above.
If you are registering multiple-aged children, click on the left navigation bar for other camp age groups and repeat step 1.

CANCELLATION POLICY: In the unlikely event that your class/program is cancelled by the Museum, we will notify you by phone and/or e-mail. You may apply payment towards another
class/program, or recieve a full refund. Allow 2-3 weeks to process a refund. The Museum reserves the right to cancel programs due to insufficient enrollment.
REFUND AND TRANSFER POLICY: Participants will be notified and full refunds given for classes/programs cancelled by UMNH. If you need to cancel your registration, a refund, less 20%, will be given until one week prior to the
class/program start date. if you need to transfer your camper from one camp and into another camp, you will be charged a $15 processing fee. Due to supply and teacher commitments, no refunds, transfers or credits will be given for
cancellations made less than one week prior to the class/program start date.

membership must include an adult and camp participant(s). Your membership expires one year from date of purchase. If you have questions about

Come discover the amazing properties of
electricity and light! We’ll begin our days at UMNH investigating circuits,
switches, batteries and electric inventions. While at Bad Dog Studio in the
afternoon, campers will create light paintings using digital cameras,
explore light while sculpting, make solar prints and much more.
Drop campers off at UMNH by 8:30am and pick them up at Bad Dog Studio
by 4:30pm. Camp Fee includes a $25 transportation fee.

We’ll be examining cells, seeds and seedling development, the effects of
light, how absorption of water takes place, plant growth and reproduction.
We’ll also investigate soil science, extract DNA, find out what osmosis is all
about and get up close and personal with trees around campus.

fligh, from the man-made to all things natural. Mornings will be spent at
UMNH investigating insects, bats, rockets, balloons and more through field
trips and group projects. While at Tracy Aviary in the afternoon, campers will
explore the world of birds from bone density, beaks and feet to flight
patterns and habitats. Drop campers off at UMNH by 8:30am

surrounding environments. Discover how this salty terminal lake serves as
both hotel and restaurant to over five million birds each year. Investigate
brine shrimp life cycles, the salinity and pH of Great Salt Lake, plant and
animal life, the history of the lake, and much more. Learn about the Lake
first-hand on visits to Farmington Bay, Great Salt Lake, and Saltair.

Science and Magic go hand in hand this week! In the morning at UMNH,
campers will investigate chemistry, physics, macro and micro-invertebrates
and more through field trips and hands-on experiments. While at the Garden
in the afternoon, campers will discover how ink can be made from plant
galls, experiment with medicinal salves and native plant tonics.
Drop campers off at UMNH by 8:30 am and pick them up at Red
Butte Garden by 4:00pm. Transportation between sites is provided.

you combine baking soda and vinegar? Join us and find out in this fun-filled
week of chemistry and physics investigations. Learn about gravity from
funnels that seem to defy nature by rolling up hill. Use balloons to power a
light bulb and discover how electrons are used to produce light. We’ll also
levitate a Ping-Pong ball to understand aerodynamics. Science has never
been more fun!

legends and lifestyles of several Native American tribes, past and present.
Grind corn, create pottery and instruments, dye wool with plant dyes while
listening to native legends and stories. In the afternoon, campers will spend
time at This is the Place experiencing pioneer life by caring for farm animals,
riding ponies, attending pioneer school, pulling handcarts and more!
Drop campers off at This is the Place Heritage Park by 8:30am and

Calling all super sleuths...we’ve got a crime to solve! This camp has the
perfect combination of hands-on forensic investigations and theatre
performance. Campers will begin their day at UMNH where we’ll conduct
fingerprint tests, create secret formulas, build spy tools and extract DNA.
In the afternoon at the Children’s Theatre, campers will experience casting,
learning lines, rehearsing and performing in a play called “Mystery Theatre”.
Join us and find out ‘who-dun-it’. Drop campers off at UMNH by
8:30am and pick them up at the Children’s Theatre by 4:30pm. Camp Fee

spent at Bad Dog Studio where campers will enjoy creating projects inspired
by famous female artists. We’ll use everything from
pencils and paint to recycled materials, creating abstract paintings and
sculptures. Drop campers off at UMNH by 8:30am and
